a little note...

Every month when we get our design team package from MFT, I open it and every month I let out a little squeal.  Like when I saw these dies for the first time.....

Print

This card was created with Die-namics Mailbox, Die-namics Cloud 9 dies and the Love is in the Mail stamp set.

After cutting all the dies out in white card stock, I used 3 colors of brown using a paint brush motion, to add in the wood grain on the mail box post.  I colored the flag with 2 different reds for a little shading and the grass, I used 3 colors of green in a flicking motion.  I added all the dies to the card with different layers of foam tape for added dimension.  I just love these dies.  They are so cute and make for the most fun card!

MFT Creative Construction...

Every month MFT has a Creative Construction with Blueprints where the Design Team is challenged to use different blueprints in fun ways.  Here is our challenge....

Tags provide the perfect little canvas for expressing your love in miniature form. Use them as delightful little cards, package accents, or decor - every one of your Valentines will be enamored by your creations. This month, we’ve challenged our team to inspire you with tags created with our extensive collection of Blueprints.

So today, using MFT Tag Builder Blueprints 5, I have created a set of 4 tags.....

MFT Creative Construction with Blueprints

I kept them all in a monochromatic theme using the pink, red and white.

IMG_4054

All of the tags feature Tag Builder 5 and the stamp set So Much Love.

  • On the first tag, I added in a red banner with a white heat embossed sentiment.
  • On the second tag, I kept it very clean and simple, using just a sentiment and a popped up heart/arrow die.
  • The third tag is a shaker tag using the elements of Tag Builder 5, it is so very easy to create.  I added heart dies inside and a little red glitter on top of the sentiment in the back of the tag.
  •  For the fourth tag, I used the new Stitched Heart Grid for a fun decoration.

I added some red stitched ribbon from Hobby Lobby to each of the tags.  2 of them, I closed with a glue dot and the other 2 I tied up with some twine.

These tags were so fun to make and I think that Tag Builder 5 might just be my favorite set of dies!  There are several other girls playing along today, so head on over to the MFT Blog to see some more!

Hope you are having a great day!  Thanks for coming by!

MFT Card Kit Release Day...

Today is kit release day over at My Favorite Things. The newest kit for January is called No Place Like Home.  It comes with 2 die sets, an adorable sentiment stamp set and several colors of card stock  so you can create your own cards just using the supplies in the kit.

I have a card here using the new kit and I combined it with Blueprints 14.  I rarely make square cards, but I thought these little houses would look so cute on the larger card.

Print

I used a piece of woodgrain paper from the Trail Mix paper pack to cover the 5x5 card base.  I added in a layer of Sour Apple with the stitched panel and then a white piece for the main card front.  I added in some Jellybean with the scalloped detail.

Here is a little tip for something I have been using to plan out cards.  My CAS brain can get a little overwhelmed with little dies and their cute miniature matching pieces, so I decided to try something.  It's basically like mapping your card.

I cut out the base from the Blueprints and then cut out all the little piece of the home and tress in white card stock and did a little arranging to plan my card.

The nice thing about doing this is....

1. You can plan out what color goes where in your layout.
2. You can use Copics to color small pieces instead of cutting out more card stock.
3. You can leave several pieces white
4.  Its just a great way to eyeball your project and see the plan come to life.

I added a little Tumbled Glass Distress Ink in the background before gluing everything down and also colored the tree trunk with a couple different brown Copics.

The kit is available now over at MFT so head on over to the blog to see more samples using the kit.  I hope you enjoyed my card today.  So glad you stopped in!

MFT Card Kit Countdown Day 2....

It's day 2 of the Card Kit Countdown for the MFT January Card Kit.  Say that 5 times fast!  :)

This card has 2 adorable die sets and the perfect stamp set to match.  I have a CAS card to share today.....
MFT January Card Kit

This card starts out with a Cement Gray card base.  I watercolored 2 piece of paper, using my Peerless Watercolors, for the sky and the grass.  I die cut the grass with Stitched Scallop Basic Edges 2 (not included in kit), and then cut both sky and grass panels down with the Stitched Rectangle Stax (not included in kit).

I die cut the house, clouds and the tree in white card stock and then added in the tiny red heart for a pop of color.  I heat embossed the sentiment on a stitched banner and then popped the whole thing up on fun foam.

Tips:

1. Sit down and make several watercolor card fronts in different colors for sky and grass etc.  After they dry, put them all in one place and keep them for future use.  Saves time and the added time of watching it dry.  Yes.  I have been to known to stare at it, in hopes of it drying faster.  :)

2. Die cut all the dies in white card stock and store them in your stamp pocket or an envelope to go with your stamp set.  You can always color these piece with copics or they will be ready to stamp on when you pull out the stamp set next time.

3. Use a clear tombow tape runner to add adhesive to the back of vellum for attaching it to your card without seeing the glue through the front of your vellum.  I added adhesive here, only behind the letters I heat embossed.

That is it for today.  If you stop over to the MFT blog, there will be lots more to see.  The January Card Kit, No Place Like Home, will be available tomorrow at MFT at 8pm CST.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

MFT January Card Kit...

Every month, My Favorite Things, comes out with a new card kit.  They are full of paper, a stamp set with matching dies and just a whole lot of mojo.  These kits will help you create several cards with fun images and colors.  This months card kit is adorable!  It's called No Place Like Home and I love it!

Here is my card for today's sneak peek....

January MFT Card Kit

I used the Cement Gray card stock for the card base.  With the keyhole cut out die cut out of the card front, I stamped the sentiment and then attached it to the card front with fun foam. Next, I cut out 4 of the key dies and stacked them up.  For a tiny bit of bling, I added some liquid glue on the top of the key and dipped it in glitter.  Super simple and such a great card for Valentines!

January MFT Card Kit

Everything you see here comes in the card kit except for the glitter.

Tips:

1. Fun Foam behind your card stock works for great dimension on your cards.
2. To keep your dies in the right place, use some painters tape, washi or even a post it note (or post it tape) to hold the die in place to run it though your die cutting machine.
3.  Use a Misti for straight sentiment stamping every time!

I can't wait to see your Card Kit creations using the new No Place Like Home kit!  Head on over to the MFT Blog to see what the rest of the Design Team has for you to see using the new kit.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

PTI Release in Review....

It's release day at Papertrey Ink!  Everything you see today, here and from the rest of the Design Team, will be available tonight at 9pm CST.

I have 3 cards to share today.  This first one uses the set Boho Rounds.  I used my Misti and did some masking and inked up different parts of the design with different color inks.  I added Glossy Accents to the dots and then did a little spritz of black Copic.  I added twine and a sentiment to finish it off....

Untitled

I stamped a simple design on this card front.  I used Aqua Mist and Lemon Tart.  These beautiful images line up perfectly to stamp 6 on the front of an A2 card.  I added a sentiment on a vellum stitches panel and then added the card front to a Lemon Tart card base....

Untitled

For this last card, I used Aqua Mist card stock for the card front and then blended in a little Hawaiian Shores.  I added part of the new Floribunda Frame in Polka Dot Vellum.  I used the new Inspired: God die and sentiment to the front of the card....
